Why we love Carmel, Indiana

Matt Tanner on December 29, 2017

There are many reasons we’ve selected Carmel, Indiana as the start and finish location for the World’s Fastest Rollfast Gran Fondo.  We live here and love to showcase our city. My wife and I ride our bikes throughout the community nearly every day. People hear Indiana and often think flat Midwest city with cornfields. I can attest Carmel, Indiana (yes, INDIANA) offers beautiful scenery for daily rides, a festive atmosphere and sense of social cycling community. We have ridden throughout the world and still love every day we get to ride in our hometown, Carmel. In 2017, Niche.com ranked Carmel #1 on its Best Places to Live in America. Niche.com factored the towns schools, housing, families and job market. Carmel scored an A in health and fitness.

Carmel boasts an amazing bike infrastructure with 120 miles of bike facilities. The Monon Greenway trail passes right through Carmel’s city center and includes direct access to several of the city parks. Over the last 15 years, Carmel has transformed its bicycle culture into a vibrant, safe thanks to the is backing by city officials. Watch this recent video by Carmel City Councilman, Ron Carter, and see the bicycling environment our community has built. At 8:24, he mentions our very own Gran Fondo.

With all that Carmel has to offer, it’s worth a weekend visit to the Midwest. Mark your calendar for the 2018 Rollfast Gran Fondo, Sept. 16 and come check out Carmel and ride through this beautiful city. You never know; it may just be your fastest ride on record!
