Avid recreational rider that wants to up his game. I am training for Triathlons and the bike is my favorite training method. When all else fails and the motivation is lacking the bike will get me up and moving. As I approach 60 years of youth I want to only get faster, stronger and better.
I have a strong emotional and physical connection to cycling, starting from when my dad taught me to ride in our backyard, cycling around Bloomington while at IU, losing that connection for years when I lived in Manhattan, and then a resurgence in my early 30s through trips overseas and my move to Vermont in 1999. Before retiring last year, cycling was a great escape and contrast to sitting at a legal/finance desk job. Groups and camps also became an important part of my cycling connection through Tommy D camps in Tucson, participating in multiple charity events and the connections made over time. A more recent joy has been seeing my oldest drop the training wheels and take off on her own. Full circle for sure.
I’ve been following the RF Gran Fondo and camps for the last couple of years through social media, which I first connected to through Tommy D. Here in Vermont we don’t have a strong cycling group connection, mostly due to the small population. My other connection to Indiana is that I am an IU grad, and have great memories of my time spent there.
Retired Army Aviator. Been a competitive cyclist since 2009.
I'm a former college wrestler and an army infantry veteran who after a few serious career ending injuries.. hamstring, bulging discs.. and etc. Discovered cycling by mistake. I started with a comfort bike, just riding for utility and fun and have since moved onto a road bike and am about to start racing at the velodrome.
She is a lifelong recreational cyclist who provides race support for Bruce and son Doug, a Cat 1 racer. She is a charter member of Rollfast and has ridden in every Fondo. She has served the competitive cycling community as a board member of InKy Cycling Association and youth cycling as chairwoman of the Nine13 Sports board. She is director of marketing for Indiana Blood Center.
Grant joined Rollfast in 2013 after participating in races and group rides with the RF crew and a recommendation from Zeke. Having enjoyed a successful career of winning CAT4 crits and time trials, it has been 'about time to CAT up' for GG for several seasons. Now leaning toward racing retirement, GG has enjoyed rolling the Fondo 'sub 4', dragging his wrestler-build up real hills at training camp, and reflecting on the time that E beat him in the Fishers Road Race.
Like many, my knowledge of triathlons starting in the 1980’s by catching a half hour segment Saturday mornings on Wide World of Sports. I'm not a coach. I'm not a professional. I'm just a guy from the midwest who has roots in cross country and cycling, and an occasional swim in the local creek or rocky quarry. While triathlons are considered an individual support, it takes the support of a team, a family, to succeed. There’s only one first place ribbon at every race, but there are many personal records that can be achieved. Cheers! -JWG
Started Cycling in 2008 when running became too hard on the joints. Started racing in 2009 and have been an Alabama State Champ in 3 different age groups. Still like to race on occassion especially if there is a hill involved.
I just love cycling period.
Grew up MTB and BMXing in Arizona, but recently started cycling. Got my first bike in June, 2010 Giant Defy Advanced 3(stock). Just rode in my first race, the 2019 Rollfast Gran Fondo! Super loving the sport and looking forward to progressing and getting better and better! Previous sports include soccer, basketball, and lots of baseball, and Long Drive (golfing event).
I have been riding bikes for longer than I care to admit, since getting addicted in college and almost failing out of school. I love the friendly competition and the camaraderie of the sport. Huntsville brought a team of 8 to the Rollfast in 2019, with 4 of us going 3:46. We hope to start a new Rollfast chapter in the Huntsville region, which has a surprisingly strong cycling contingent.
John is an avid, life-long cyclist. He has participated in many Indiana group rides, CIBA rides, centuries, fondos, and RAIN several times. He has been a member of Rollfast for a number of years. John trains with Tom Danielson of Cinch Cycling. John’s idea of cycling fun involves a fair amount of personal challenge and climbing any hills/mountains in the area because he is a climber and he is in his natural element when he is doing it. Ask his wife, she only sees his backside far in the distance up mountains. John and his wife enjoy traveling and cycling here in US and abroad. John loves the opportunity to socialize and ride with other cyclists whether it is a cycling camp or an organized “push personal limits” ride.
Teresa (Teri) is a science teacher at Carmel High School. Picked up cycling seriously 3 years ago to have an athletic outlet and to share a recreational activity with her husband, John. Since that time, she has discovered she is a climber (fortunately) since John is one too and likes to lead her up crazy steep mountains and down the other side (even worse). Fortunately, she is too stubborn to give up which is a good match for John’s ambitious cycling adventures a.k.a feats of strength, courage, and endurance.
Freedom for me is outside. Cycling is a means to achieve this freedom. I'm a mediocre rider with an love for cycling, especially the Spring Classics! I was hooked in the 1980's and have never stopped watching the sport. Lemond is my hero! My goal is to enjoy a ride and be an ambassador for those around me.
After a wakeup call in 2012, I started cycling as a way to get healthy. Who knew that cycling would become my passion (addiction). At 60 years of age, I'm in the best shape of my life, have an awesome group of homies that I call family, and am loving life. Cycling is the best sport on planet earth!
Living in recovery. Father of two wonderful children. Cycling is my meditation, self care and connection to people.
Husband to Rachel Loudd-Robinson, father to Lambeau the Great Dane, Football evaluator, former collegiate cyclist, current Hincapie brand Ambassador.
John is among an elite group of ultra-endurance racers who have achieved RAAM Qualified status. This qualifies him to race in the Solo Division of Race Across America – The world’s toughest bicycle race.” He aspires to compete in a RAAM team division someday. John is the first member voted in to OG status; earning this in 2019.
Former competitive collegiate cyclist, now engineer and entrepreneur.
Dan found a love for bikes on June 4, 2014. That was the day he decided he was ready to stop being lazy and start being awesome. Starting project #getdanunfat, he lost 70lbs in 4 months (mostly due to riding, but cutting out pizza helped too!). After riding many of the races and rides around town (including the 2014/2015/2016 Rollfast Gran Fondos), a weight lifting injury in 2016 took him off the bike for 2 years (with the exception of a few rides here and there). Now Dan is back on the bike and ready to rock! He likes a cold beer and a smooth scotch.
